UNCG’s Curriculum Guide provides guidance for which forms to use and a description of the approval process.
Most forms that UNCG uses for planning, establishing, and discontinuing academic programs are included in General Administration’s Policy on Academic Program Planning (Chapter 400.1). Please be aware that the submission of a prospectus to SACSCOC will be required for new programs that are substantially different (i.e., involve new faculty, new courses, additional library resources, or new resources) from those that UNCG is currently approved to offer or approved to offer at a particular location. The additional information a SACSCOC full prospectus requires can be incorporated into the UNC General Administration Appendix in lieu of submitting a second document later in the process. Guidance for what additional information to include is contained in SACSCOC’s Content of the Substantive Change Prospectus.
When planning a new program, the initiating unit completes the Program Planning Questionnaire. The Office of Planning and Assessment reviews the questionnaire and provides planning guidance including what external reporting is anticipated and an estimate of time required to complete the process.
